To mark the arrival of monsoon season in South Asia, this month’s Dinner and a Movie was Monsoon Wedding. It’s a drama that deals with some disturbing themes and yet still manages to be fun to watch. It’s a great movie with several interwoven plots and some great cinematography, but more importantly it inspired these wonderful dishes below.

“This film is a feast for the eyes in vibrant orange, it is set in the Punjab, and I’m a predictable Pavlovian dog: one twang from a sitar, and I’m salivating for Turmeric, Coriander and Green Chillies. Chicken Tikka ticks all of those boxes, and is, moreover, the starting point of lots of hybrid food, in short, the embodiment of cross-cultural merging and melting of cultures, which fits the film perfectly.”
